When you wake up in Atomfall, you find yourself in a mysterious bunker with no memory of how you got there.
Right off the bat, you meet a wounded scientist who's in desperate need of help. He tells you that he’s hurt and asks you to make some bandages for him.
This is where the first big choice in the game comes in—do you help the scientist, threaten him, or just take him out?
If you decide to help, you’ll need to craft some bandages. Here’s how you do it and what happens depending on your choice.
To make the bandages, you need two things:
These items are scattered around the bunker, so you’ll have to do a little exploring. To craft them, just open up the Crafting tab in your menu (press "K" or check the map), find the bandage recipe, and craft it.
You won’t find any of the needed materials in your starting room. But no worries, just head out and start searching. Here’s where you’ll find what you need:
Once you've gathered everything, head to the Crafting menu and make the bandages. When they’re ready, head back to the wounded scientist and use the “Helpful” option to give them the bandages.

After giving the scientist the bandages, he’ll thank you and hand over a Modified Keycard and a DO NOT FORGET Note.
He’ll tell you to head to the Interchange, and once you’re done, you can leave the bunker by using the keycard in the card reader upstairs.
Of course, you don’t have to help the scientist if you don’t want to. Here’s how it plays out if you decide to threaten or kill him:
You can kill the scientist by sneaking up behind him for a takedown or just punching or kicking him. Once he’s gone, you can loot his body for the Modified Keycard and DO NOT FORGET Note.
Killing the scientist might seem harsh, but some players prefer this option to avoid potential problems later.
Since the scientist is already injured and exposed to the Windscale disaster, there’s a chance he could turn into a tough enemy later on if left to suffer.
Also, there’s a door just outside the bunker that requires a Signal Redirector to open, which you won’t have access to until later in the game.
If you’re trying to avoid any extra surprises down the line, taking the scientist out might save you some trouble.
