BLAST Premier World Final 2024 is now over, and G2 are the worthy winners after a dominant 3-0 victory against Spirit in the grand final.
After the game, we spoke to huNter- about the final, their dominant CT sides, and whether they can carry this momentum forward into the Major.
Congratulations on the win, a 3-0 sweep, how are you feeling?
I feel very good. After Rio and bad start here with a 0-13 against Liquid, we bounced back and won the event. If someone told me after that first map we would do that, I'd say they're crazy.
I'm very happy because the mentality we showed after that game against Liquid was very strong.
You didn't lose a CT round in the first two maps of the final, is there a degree of luck there or did you have a good read on them?
I think it was mainly because of us, we read them very well and we played really well overall. Individually we were very sharp and we were killing them whenever they came to us. That was the main reason.
Of course, Spirit are struggling against us, it was a bit because of them, but it was mainly because of us and how we were reading them.
Do you feel like you're the best team in the world right now going into the Major after winning two of your last three events?
For sure, we're one of the best, but in my opinion, NAVI is the best team in the world still. They've shown more this year and especially this season. We're top two or three.
How important is it to get the trophy here after the Rio and being able to carry the momentum into the Major?
After Rio, confidence was down, and after that first map against Liquid, winning the event is a big boost for us before the RMR start. We've had some bad experiences in RMRs so we need to go step by step.
Our bootcamp paid off, even though it was only five days before this event. So, now we can go home, try to reset a bit, practice to prepare for the RMR, and try our best there as well.
donk is dangerous but you always have a good time against him, how do you manage to shut him down so often?
We don't think about him at all. They have other players in the team, he is just one of them. We don't do anything special about him, we just focus on us and on their entire team. I don't even know when he's in my crosshair.
It's just about us, the preparation, the team. One player can't do much if the team isn't doing well.
Do you feel like you can now carry this through to the Major?
I don't think about that at all, I just want to focus on celebration with the boys tonight and then go home to prepare for the RMR so we can try to qualify for the Major.
How have you found Singapore and the fans?
It's been amazing. I know we have a lot of fans in Asia and in China, but I didn't know that it's this crazy in Singapore as well. We've had a lot of fans, and I feel like everyone has been cheering for us these last two days.
It's amazing, it boosts your confidence when you know the fans are with you and especially if you're playing well, it's even more of a boost
I hope that we'll go to the RMR and Major as well and see more fans there as well.
Would you like to come back to Singapore and play here again?
Of course, everything here was really good. It's very clean, the people are very nice, and the fans are amazing. I don't have anything bad to say about it here.
