BLAST Bounty is where upsets are meant to happen, and there’s been plenty of them in the opening round of Season 2 2026.
Before now, no one with a $60k bounty on their head had been defeated, but we watched three fall in a matter of 48 hours as Falcons, FURIA, and Vitality all lost their opening games.
Here’s how it happened, as well as an update on the matches for the RO16,
Day one went exactly as you’d expect it to, with only Astralis dropping a map out of the group of favourites as Nemesis managed to give them a little bit of strife.
The upsets started coming on day two, though, with Falcons suffering defeat at the hands of 100 Thieves.
An incredible debut for them following the arrival of Gizmy, the British IGL showed exactly why they’ve picked him up straight away, with both solid shooting and excellent calling.
It did at one point look like 100T were slipping up on map three, Anubis, but Danish wonderkid Sirah picked up an important 1v3 to send them through 2-1 at 13-11.
It’s just a shame they didn’t get a better reward for their win; they’ll now play Spirit in the next round.
The next day kicked off with an upset; FOKUS got one over on Aurora as they struggled in their tier one debut since going international.
There was almost a second upset, too, as OG took a map off Spirit and pushed them to their absolute limit on map three. cadiaN and adamb were stellar for OG, but the experience of Spirit proved to be just too strong.
We thought the upsets might have been behind us as day four got underway, but as it happened, three of the four victors came from the bounty hunters, rather than the hunted.
Only The MongolZ were able to defeat their hunters, with 3DMAX taking down magic in the opening game of the day.
The bigger shocks were undoubtedly Dendele beating FURIA, and Vitality falling to Liquid, as Vitality lost their first online game since 2022 to the new-look Liquid squad.
