Recently benched by NIP, Brollan has been a solid stand-in for MOUZ at World Final in the wake of frozen's departure for FaZe Clan.
Eliminated in the semi-finals after destroying Cloud9 on day three, we caught up with Brollan to discuss his time with the team and his future in CS2.
A disappointing result for you after such a close game, how are you feeling?
It's a hard feeling. I think I will regret how I played on Mirage for a long time, I didn't play well and could do so much better for the team. It cost us the map. We did it all right and we could've gone for the win but it is what it is.
It felt like you got caught out a couple of times on the A site of Mirage, were you just having trouble keeping track of their T side?
In some ways, yes. I just played it really bad. I want to do the right things but it can be so different when you get on the map, I played really poorly on CT.
Overpass was a much better map for you, how were you feeling after resetting to go into the second map?
Obviously Overpass is my favourite map so I felt really comfortable. I did very well, but I still feel like I could do a lot more. There were some rounds we managed to win instead of losing, but we got zero pistols today and that's a factor that were we weren't really in the games sometimes because we had poor starts to all of the halves.
To recap your time here with MOUZ, playing with a stand-in is difficult, did you guys over-perform your expectations coming in to the event?
No, I don't think so. This team is a really good team with a lot of talent. I really enjoyed playing with these guys and it's a new culture for me, they do it in a really good way out of the game in practice. Everyone has so much raw talent and there's so many good things about them that make them top-level. For example, siuhy is a great IGL and everyone knew what to do on their side of the maps, that helps the team so much.
What's it like playing under siuhy compared to other IGLs?
It's hard to say because I only played with them for one week, but he's a calm IGL who really knows what he's doing. He trusts everyone in the team to do whatever they want, and I'm not saying my past teams didn't do that, but he's really confident in what he's doing and he's a great leader in-game and that's one of the best things about him.
What's next for you in 2024?
I have no idea, to be honest. I'll go home, try to think about it, but I just don't know. I was trying to find a new team, but I don't know at the moment.
Is there a lot left for you to show in Counter-Strike?
For sure. This was my first tournament in CS2, I learned a lot, but I can do a lot better. I was struggling a little bit sometimes, but I think I can give it all and be on a top team for sure.
Of course, I have spent three years with NiKo, four years with huNter-, they are friends for me, they are family. I will watch and cheer for them and always wish the best for them. I spent more time with them in the last year three or four years than my family or my girlfriend so they are tied to me.
