Yesterday’s breathtaking semifinals of BLAST Premier ‘22 World Final brought a massive bundle of thrill and excitement into Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena, as the remaining four teams, as eager to win as ever, served us with a portion of beautiful plays, incredible displays of skill, and spectacular comebacks.
In their quest to prove their strength and cement their position among the world’s best, OG’s remarkable World Final run surprised many, as they nearly managed to claim a spot in the Grand Final. They were so close after taking the first semifinal map — Team Liquid’s pick Overpass — 16:12. However, nitr0’s team would not allow that.
After pushing Liquid into the corner in the first match, the situation changed completely for OG on the following maps. Liquid seemingly managed to get back in the zone and fueled by the force of EliGE and YEKINDAR, they retook control of the situation. Despite degster’s monumental efforts to keep OG in the fight for the desired title, Liquid were simply stronger, winning 16:10 on Inferno and 16:7 on Anubis.
Liquid's progression to the Grand Final is further proof of their recent upward trend, and the World Final trophy would be the perfect end to their year. For OG, their run ends here, but a 3-4 placing is something they can be proud of, even if it stings a little this morning.
Arguably the biggest surprise of the tournament, G2’s semifinal victory over FaZe Clan must have messed with the PICK’EMS predictions of so many! Nevertheless, it was not the first time in this event that G2 amazed everyone with such an impressive performance, as after quite a rocky season, they finally unleashed their potential and showed us their true power.
While m0NESY was the star of G2’s previous matches, this time around, it was huNter and jks who spurred the team to victory. On both maps, FaZe started with a substantial lead, out of which G2 had to make a comeback. And they did so, showing an extraordinary determination that even FaZe weren’t able to withstand. On Nuke, they managed to turn 9:6 into 14:16, while on the second Inferno, 11:4 became 13:16.
G2 will now face Team Liquid in a battle of titans that will decide the kings of 2022 CS:GO season!
