As the excitement from the World Final is slowly subsiding, flashbacks of some of the most outstanding World Final plays are coming up to cheer up our journey back from sunny Abu Dhabi.
And while there’s been plenty of phenomenal plays worth remembering, one player’s performance particularly outshone the rest, earning him the first MVP medal of his career.
That’s right, we’re talking about the young AWP-star Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, whose extraordinary performance left many asking whether we are looking at the next s1mple.
By the end of his first year competing at the very top of the CS:GO scene, m0NESY achieved the level of success that many seasoned players are still hoping for. Not only did his team secure the BLAST Premier ‘22 World Final title, but the talented AWPer has also been decorated with the exclusive MAERSK MVP award.
Joining G2 in early 2022 after two years with NAVI Junior, it seems that m0NESY has gained enough skill and knowledge to compete with the elite and even become the main component in G2’s triumph following the arduous 1092 days without a trophy.
Indeed his consistency throughout the event, significant contribution to G2’s victory, along with impressive stats and obvious dedication, all prove that the 17-year-old prodigy has a great future in CS:GO ahead.
In an interview following G2’s victory, m0NESY commented on earning the MAERSK MVP medal:
“I leared a lot from this year. Since I joined this team, I kept studying and getting information on how to play better. I’ve been improving so much and I can see that it was productive. our boot camps and everything this year. Also our losses — we lost at the Major, we didn’t qualify for the second one, and it was just making us stronger and stronger.”
“As soon as you see that you are making progress, just don't stop believing. It will happen, you just need to play more. Don't listen to others, just be yourself, and never say never.”
