It’s showtime!! We’re counting down the last few moments before the BLAST Premier ‘22 World Final finally kicks off to wrap up the fantastic CS:GO season 2022 and crown the new kings of Counter-Strike!
In the first group stage battle, we’ll see Outsiders go head-to-head with Team Liquid — the remaining squad in our World Final preview series!
Qualifying from seventh position in the BLAST Premier Global Leaderboard, Team Liquid is one of the teams going into the competition without a title to their name, but with hopes of claiming one before the year ends.
Following their successful 4th placement in the 2021 World Final, the start of the 2022 season was not the smoothest for Team Liquid led by the new IGL nitr0. An early exit from BLAST Premier Spring Groups was followed by an early exit from IEM Katowice, and although they managed to get into the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League Season 15, that was as high as they could get.
The following PGL Major Antwerp and IEM Dallas meant another two early exits for Liquid, but then, something great happened for the team — the superstar entry fragger YEKINDAR stepped in instead of shox and together with the new coach daps helped them into the IEM Cologne quarterfinals.
In the following tournaments, YEKINDAR continued playing with Liquid as a stand-in, and it was easily recognizable that this was a perfect fit. Suddenly, Liquid were at the top of Fall Groups and came close to snatching the ESL Pro League S16 trophy, making Vitality work for it in a thrilling Grand Final series.
Flying to Rio from the top spot in American RMR and with YEKINDAR now as the official team member, Liquid’s hopes for a stage finish at the first Brazilian Major were reasonably high, but did not materialize in the end, as they didn’t make it out of the Legends Stage.
This gave nitr0 and boys even more determination to push further, and they did so at the Fall Final, winning their group despite having favourites NAVI in it and reaching the semifinals. Here, Liquid’s remarkable Fall Final run was ended by Heroic.
It seems that YEKINDAR is serious about pushing Liquid as high as possible and endangering the top teams along the way, so be sure to keep an eye on them in the BLAST Premier World Final. You wouldn't want to miss any of his insane shots!
Here’s Team Liquid’s full World Final line-up:
