Here at BLAST.tv we're celebrating AWPgust, a month in which we look back through CS:GO history at all the AWPers who have been lighting up our screens in the past, the present, and those who will light them up in the future.
We've already got the future covered with a list of five AWPers to watch out for in the coming years, and the present is on the way, but what about the past?
We'd normally stick to five, but seeing as there's so many to pick from, we thought it was more fair to do a top ten list this time around.
Here is the top ten AWPers in CS:GO history.
Star of the MOUZ roster that was dubbed 'budget-FaZe' after the American organisation formed their superteam, oskar was one of the best players in the world 2017 and 2018.
Occasionally disappointing, this was only due to the high standards he set for himself when he was on form.
A great AWPer who could have easily won more, he's only this far down the list due to his relatively small trophy collection.
The greatest AWPer in NA CS:GO history, skadoodle's performances at the ELEAGUE Boston Major fired Cloud9 to NA's only Major victory in CS:GO.
An achievement so great he couldn't not make the list, he would without a doubt be higher up if he had managed to recreate that form earlier on in his career.
Three-time Major winner JW was one of the biggest stars in the early years of CS:GO. Writing his legend with fnatic, it was his skills on the big green that helped the team be so consistently good in the games early years.
An unpredictable player, had his peak carried on longer he would undoubtedly be higher up this list, but he arguably outstayed his welcome with fnatic, and now finds himself far down the ladder with EYEBALLERS.
A star that began to shine during the online era, considering the amount ZywOo actually AWPs, sh1ro might just be the best AWPer on planet Earth right now.
His recent arrival to the big leagues prevents him from being any higher up on the list, but don't let that fool you, sh1ro is bound to go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
Had NiKo not failed to win at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, GuardiaN would still hold the title of greatest player to never win a Major.
A star for NAVI in the earlier years of CS:GO and later an integral part of the FaZe superteam, despite injury, GuardiaN remained one of the most fearsome players in the game.
A maybe controversially low placing given just how scary kennyS was in his peak, it's the drop off in the later years of his career that prevents kennyS from being any higher.
A Major winner, kennyS was so good with the AWP that Valve simply had to nerf the gun. We think that says it all really.
Two-time HLTV number one, Major MVP, and the best player of 2023 thus far, ZywOo is one of the greatest players to ever grace CS:GO.
One of the most intelligent players ever, ZywOo rarely puts a foot wrong, and watching him in his flow state is unlike any other.
We'd love to place him higher on the list, but sadly, he just doesn't AWP enough for us to do that.
People might underrate FalleN now thanks to his slip down the professional ladder, but let's not forget just how good FalleN was at his peak.
The second-best player in the world in 2016, he managed to do so while leading his team to two Major victories that year. If that's not incredible, we don't know what is.
If kennyS' placement was controversial, then what is this? The greatest player in CS:GO history, unfortunately for s1mple, we don't think that makes him the greatest AWPer.
A player so good not a single other player could even attempt to recreate his greatest moments, there is simply no debate about his GOAT status.
If you're a new player looking for someone to learn to AWP from, there is no better option than device. A genius in terms of positioning and maximising the potential to make the right play, in terms of playing the role the correct way, there has never been anyone in history quite like device.
A four-time Major winner, even with nearly a year out of the game, device has returned with Astralis at arguably an even greater level than when he began his break, and that's why we think he's the greatest AWPer in history.
