Spirit won BLAST Premier Spring Final presented by Revolut after an impressive showing in the final versus NAVI.
However, hally told us BLAST.tv that it wasn’t all plain sailing, and that he and their psychologist needed to “find the right words” after the team mentally checked out during a dominant map three from NAVI.
You got the win, but it wasn't as easy as the first two maps made it seem like it would be as NAVI were dominant on map three. How do you come back from that and avoid tilting?
It was tough, but neither team had too much time to prepare.
After an exhausting series against Vitality, I made the decision to let the team rest instead of overwhelming them with too much information. We all prepared from today onwards.
Towards the end of the second map, we were completely exhausted and then in the third map we mentally checked out. But in the fourth map, myself and our psychologist found the right words and then played according to our plan.
We spoke to zont1x after the semi-final and asked who he would prefer to play in the final, he told us he would prefer to face NAVI as he felt it was easier. How did you feel about it coming into the match?
NAVI is a good team that has a very good structure that allows them to compete for titles, so kudos to them for that despite not having the strongest individual players compared to other teams.
However, every game we have played against them we have been able to dictate and we're glad that it happened again today.
NAVI said their plan to counter donk would be to double-swing him and it was evident within the match, how do you go about ensuring a counter such as this fails to work?
[laughs] donk just kills two.
You have a very young team that is still inexperienced despite having multiple event wins under their belt, how do you work on keeping composure in big matches especially when you get big leads?
We are hungry for wins and we try our best to stay composed because we're all learning game by game.
It's a process for us because our core is very young still and sh1ro still only recently joined so there's still a lot of learning in that regard. We're happy with our progress though.
I want to take time to thank my team, despite a high level of tiredness they managed to get back into it and make the win happen.
