The second day of BLAST Premier ‘23 Spring Groups finished with three 2-0s, and unlike on Day 1, when North America was looking good, yesterday it was more like American’t.
The competition didn't start well for Germany either, but on the contrary, three international rosters let their prowess shine through to deliver three terrific CS:GO faceoffs.
The first game of the day went down on FaZe’s pick Inferno. However, it was over sooner than anyone imagined, especially thanks to broky’s sharp aim that didn’t waste a single bullet. Not giving them much space to breathe, FaZe completely run over Complexity to close the first map 16:6.
Although Overpass is usually Complexity’s bread and butter, not much changed on the second map. Despite rain and RobbaN missing from the event, FaZe continued showing that they have what it takes to continue their dominance — both firepower and tactics. Remarkably, e3etag topped the chart with 31 frags on this map, which not many stand-ins have bragging rights for. Showing an immaculate vibe, FaZe finished it off at 16:9 to get the first series in two maps.
The first game between Team Liquid and OG went a bit back and forth before OG, strengthened by prior intense practice, assumed control on their pick Ancient. With degster providing plays left, right and center; and nexa utilizing his leadership and problem-solving abilities, we were blessed by numerous incredible moments before OG closed the map 16:6.
The second pick Nuke was a bit of a gamble on Liquid’s side since neither of the teams have much experience with this map. Rest assured, it was one hell of a nuke for both teams, who delivered a terrific and entertaining game of Counter-Strike, including a proper dose of thrill in overtime. Showcasing huge mental fortitude and tenacity, OG took a 22:20 win to secure the series, surely leaving Liquid disappointed.
The BLAST Premier ‘22 World Champions G2 kicked off the first match on BIG’s map pick Mirage with a solid eight-round streak, but in the second half, the game was much like on the knife’s edge. The Germans stepped up their game and came back to push things into overtime, where it was just a game of inches. The teams went back and forth until the last round, where G2 performed a perfect play to claim the first win with a 16:14 scoreline.
Still riding the hype from Abu Dhabi, G2 looked even better on their map pick Inferno. The star of the game was undoubtedly NiKo, who was dropping kills in a generous manner and with the consistency he’s famous for. While there was still some hope for BIG in the first half, G2 clearly dictated the pace on Inferno’s CT side. With most of their moves being predicted by G2, the Germans managed to win only two rounds in the second half before G2 ended the match with a score of 16:9 to take the first Group C victory.
