Monte secure Spring Showdown spot with win over Aurora
BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 is just a few weeks away and we're in Showdown qualifier season.
Timbermen, Rare Atom, Imperial, SAW. and Metizport all secured their places in the event thanks to earlier qualifiers, but now Monte have completed the lineup after winning the RES Eastern European Masters.
Let's go over how they booked their place.
Monte's run to Showdown
Put in a group alongside Aurora, ex-ENEIDA, and The Chosen Few, Monte kicked off their run by beating The Chosen Few 13-11 on Anubis. A strong map for the Ukrainians, DemQQ and sdy were the difference makers as shaiK and Skrimo shined for their Bulgarian opposition.
With Aurora also winning their opening game, the winners' match would see the two teams face each other for the first time at the event. A team performance, br0 top-fragged as Monte secured their place in the playoffs with a 13-6 scoreline on Mirage.
Photo: Stephanie LindgrenThe semi-finals would see Monte take on Czech team SINNERS, who feature former MOUZ AWPer oskar and former OG rifler NEOFRAG. Monte won the series 2-1, and sdy showed why Monte will miss him for as long as he can't play the RMR as he topped the scoreboard with 65 kills.
Monte's final opponent was the Russians of Aurora. Another 2-1 victory, Woro2k top-fragged with 58 kills, but he will still be disappointed by his team's continued poor form on Nuke. Despite the loss on Nuke, Monte bounced back to seal the series 2-1, closing out Ancient 13-9.
Spring Showdown
BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 kicks off on March 6th. 16 teams will battle it out for the final two places at BLAST Premier Spring Final in London, which is set to take place in June.
