Evil Geniuses were one of the biggest movers in the recent off-season. Four players and a coach departed, facilitating the promotion of members of their now former academy team, Evil Geniuses Black.
One such player, HexT, had previously spent time with the main squadron, but now he will re-enter the fold refreshed and ready to put all the lessons he has learned in the last year into action.
We spoke to HexT before BLAST Premier Fall Groups about all that he learned, as well as how he thinks the academy team will fare now faith has been instilled in them to perform at the highest level.
You’re back on the main team, how does it feel?
It feels amazing. I think I’ve improved since last year, so it’s a great chance to prove myself again, especially with a new team.
Is there an element of feeling like you have a point to prove?
It does feel like I have something to prove because I don’t think I was ever at 100% with the last roster due to all of the pressure from social media and the requirements to stay competitive in tier one, but now I know what I need to do.
What do you think is the most important thing that you learned during the first stint on the main roster?
The most important thing I’ve learned on the main roster has definitely been to stay away from Twitter after matches. Social media will cause a massive hurdle in your mental and in return will affect your gameplay.
What’s the most important thing you learned in the time since?
I’ve learned how to have more fun while also trying my hardest. I think this is the most important aspect this new team brings.
It’s likely this time will need some time to adapt to tier one, what goals have you laid out between now and the end of the year?
Some goals I’ve laid out for myself are to stay my happy self while competing, put 110% into this season and prove to people why I’m here.
Previously, only one player has been promoted from the Blueprint at one time, how much of a benefit do you think it will be that it’s four of you this time?
I think promoting four people will be rough at first, but I believe that everyone on this team has the ability to be tier one. We have improved exponentially after one week of solid practice, so it will be exciting where we end up later on in the year. We were also really good friends first, so I think that’ll make our chances of winning even greater.
