Before BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 began, we questioned whether FaZe could keep up their strong start to CS2 in Copenhagen.
Well, given how they played in their opening series against NIP, we aren't asking those questions anymore.
10-2 up on the first map at half-time, NIP put up a bit more of a fight on map two, but they couldn't muster up enough strength to truly challenge the might of FaZe.
FaZe began strong on Vertigo thanks to an indomitable 1-9 stat line from rain in the first half.
Every member of FaZe closed out the half with a positive K/D, but ropz and Twistzz were particularly unkillable as they died three and four times in those opening 12 rounds.
The IEM Sydney winners continued strong in the second half by winning their T pistol, although newly reinstated NIP man es3tag did his best to prevent that.
Nt, mate.
Despite their loss in the pistol round, NIP answered back immediately and managed to pick up a few rounds on their CT side. Sadly for them, the deficit proved to be too large and the map ended 13-6.
Nuke has always been a robust map for FaZe, and despite the much closer 13-9 scoreline, it never truly felt like NIP even had the chance to take the game to overtime.
If you want to see how confident FaZe were, check out them practising their bottle-flipping before they executed onto the A site.
FaZe opened the map with a 4-1 lead, and although NIP managed to claw it back to 5-4, this was the only time they would lead the map and it didn't last long as FaZe closed out the half 7-5.
With their backs against the wall, we Mic'd Up k0nfig at half-time to see how he kept the vibes up in his team.
Sadly for k0nfig, his words didn't have enough impact, and the new NIP side started the second half slowly after a failed A rush on pistol round.
They would fight back with some round wins later in the half and broke the FaZe economy, but ultimately, they fell 13-9.
