GamerLegion upset FaZe with huge 2-0 win
We're now three days into BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024 and it's time to get started with our Group B games.
Kicking us off is FaZe vs GamerLegion, a game that ended with a surprising result.
Let's take a look at the action.
Map one - Overpass (GamerLegion's pick)
GamerLegion previously bested FaZe in the opening game of IEM Sydney and they were hot out the gates here in Copenhagen too as they kicked off Overpass with a 3-0 lead on the unfavourable T side.
They continued strong in the opening six rounds, winning five of them, but it wasn't long before FaZe wrestled back control of the match and closed out the first half 7-5.
FaZe kept themselves firmly in the lead at the start of the second half, extending the gap between the two teams with a pistol-round win. Check out this POV of rain as he cuts down the A defence.
However, as the gun rounds began it was all GamerLegion, and isak hit a VAC-worthy shot through the Monster smoke.
isak carried on his strong performance throughout the remainder of the duration of the map. His team would have to endure two more FaZe round wins, but as he extended his kill total to 20, GamerLegion closed out their map pick 13-11.
Map two - Ancient (FaZe's pick)
Heading into map two, Anders and HenryG were keen to stress that Ancient is FaZe's best map while GamerLegion often struggle on the map, but it didn't seem that way as the rounds played out.
The opening rounds were traded back and forth, first going the way of FaZe thanks to pistol king rain hitting this 3k on Long.
We guess it's a shame then that karrigan couldn't have the same luck with aim as he pushed past the B Pillar with his MAC-10.
With the scores tied 6-6 at the break, ropz led the charge for FaZe with 13, while acoR and captain Snax combined for 25 kills on their CT side.
The game stayed even for the remainder of regulation, but the outcome of the game became clear after volt located karrigan through the wall of B site.

16-13 when it was all said and done, volt, acoR, and Snax all had their starring moments on the map, and each finished with twenty kills or more.
What's next for the two teams?
FaZe will now play for their lives in the event against the loser of Team Liquid vs Spirit, while GamerLegion will play the winner of that match for a spot in the Group Final.
