Still operating as a stand-in IGL for OG, niko’s performances so far in his new role have been commendable.
Although their opener would not go the way they wanted versus ENCE, they bounced back with a strong showing against MOUZ and set themselves up for a 1-1 game versus NIP.
Unfortunately it would not go their way, meaning that OG will go into the 1-2 bracket. With their backs against the wall and everything to play for, niko is confident of the team’s ability to reset.
Unfortunately with that you fall into the 1-2 bracket, how are you feeling right now?
Uh, destroyed, I feel like, because we had a good T side and we didn’t pick it up on CT side. So… yeah, I don’t know. We’ll have to go home and look at stuff and talk it through.
Could you take me through what happened on the last couple rounds where F1KU went to plant the bomb and REZ killed him from CT?
F1KU said “hold CT” and Abdul [degster] said “I have CT”, but he didn’t have a good enough angle, so it’s, erm, not good.
I spoke to F1KU and neofrag the other day and they said that playing with you as the IGL doesn’t feel like a disadvantage - but maybe it feels like a disadvantage to you personally because you’re still very new to the role. Do you agree with that?
No I don’t think so because I was helping a lot back in the day as well, a lot of support players don’t really care how they play so I think it’s okay.
Where do you think you need to go as the primary IGL to develop your skills?
I need to learn a lot of stuff, like maybe I need to chill sometimes and don’t take the easy way of calling when you get some positions on the map. Sometimes I call the easy thing, because that’s right in front of you and it’s easy right? But the other team also knows it’s easy, so I need to think about it a little more sometimes.
What do you feel you need to do tomorrow to reset before the BO3s start?
*sighs* I’m not sure, we’ll go back to the hotel now, go back to the practice room, eat a little bit, watch the game and then our coaches will probably have some words, we’ll have a debrief together as well, and that’s it.
How are you feeling about the BO3s, do you think that’s when we’ll see the best of OG?
Yeah I think so. I think it showed in the RMR, I think we’re not there, we don’t win pistols, I think we’re 0-6 now in pistols, and in BO3 we are just better.
Why do you think you are 0-6 in pistols?
I actually have no idea. I think it comes down a lot of the time to the first duel that’s happening on the map, if you get that sometimes, a lot of times, you’ll win the round.
So you go home, reset, do your practice; are you feeling confident about what’s left of this tournament?
Yeah, I feel confident.
