People have asked for Source 2 in CSGO for years, and with Valve’s announcement of Counter-Strike 2, their wish has finally been granted.
Calling it the ‘greatest leap forward’ in the history of the game, Counter-Strike 2 will feature a host of new features that expand upon the game that we all already know and love. The update will also ensure that new content and features continue to come to the game for years to come.
With a limited beta test for CS2 now live, here’s everything you need to know and what to do to get access.
The limited test is an opportunity for fans of CS:GO to get early access to CS2.
The test will allow the game’s developers to see their new changes in action with the general player base for the very first time, with users then able to highlight issues with the game that the devs can then fix for the actual release of CS2.
With CS2 set to be released in the Summer of this year, if you want to get access to the limited test running before then, there’s a list of things you can do to try and get access.
According to Valve, players will be selected for the limited test of CS2 because of factors such as recent play time in Valve servers, the trust factor of your account, and Steam account standing.
So if you want to be one of those lucky players who gets access to CS2, get loaded into some matchmaking and be the best teammate you can be.
If you're chosen for the limited test of Counter-Strike 2, you will be greeted with an ‘ENROLL’ button upon loading CS:GO.
Clicking that button will allow you to download and access the beta by selecting the option when launching CS:GO.
While there are very limited numbers involved in the Counter-Strike limited test right now, players are being added all the time. Keep checking your CS:GO to see if you are one of them!
Yes, with the two versions of the game being selected via an option menu upon launch, switching between the two games is as easy as pushing a button.
As of right now, the only map featuring in the Counter-Strike 2 limited test is Dust2. You can play Competitive, Deathmatch, and on private servers with bots.
Don’t worry; your skins are safe in Counter-Strike 2 and will all be carrying over from CS:GO. Even more exciting, some of the upgrades to the games overall visuals as a result of Source 2 mean that some of those skins will look slightly different. So far, we’ve seen that all variants of Doppler knives look fantastic!
