The showmatch at the BLAST.tv Paris Major was a tonne of fun, with stars such as shox, kennyS, and RpK lining up for Team France against a Team Europe team that consisted of names like s1mple, CYPHER, and smooya.
Fans were able to vote on BLAST.tv for special rules to be added to the game on so-called "Featured Rounds", with one of those being a “monitor off round”. While the players wouldn’t have had a clue what was going on, fortunately for us, Twitter user @Dokaii has made a multi-pov so we can enjoy the action from that round all over again.
Let’s begin with poor old CYPHER. While the English entry fragger might have displayed his talents in the Major cycle, he struggled more than anyone in this round, failing to even get out of spawn.
Next there’s s1mple, who fared a little better as he managed to escape spawn and find his way to Yard. While all he managed to do in Yard was fire his AWP in the air, trying is what really matters. Eventually he’d decided he’d had enough, however, and returned to spawn to be with his new friend, CYPHER.
smooya had an optimistic plan carrying the bomb out of spawn, and it would have worked too had he not gotten stuck in Garage and started to spray the wall with his AK.
GeT_RiGhT showed his experience as he expertly guided himself out of spawn, although that experience quickly faded as he channelled his inner noob and began to rain down bullets on nothingness with his trusty P90.
And finally for Team Europe, there was STYKO. The Major semi-finalist had done himself proud at the event, but this wasn’t his finest round as he attempted to carve his name into the walls of Lobby… or maybe that’s what he was doing; we’re not really sure.
Moving onto Team France, the hometown heroes had a somewhat different approach to the round. Swinging their knives out of spawn, it wasn’t long before shox was eliminated by kennyS.
kennyS would then try to channel his teammate bodyy’s former antics and go for audacious wallbangs, however, the only issue there seems to be that the showmatch was played on Nuke, not Cache.
bodyy himself had a rather passive approach, standing still in spawn until the team killing around him had safely been and gone. He then proceeded to shoot the ground repeatedly and was almost killed by JACKZ, so we’re not sure if his passive stance to the opening of the round was all too effective.
Last up for Team France is RpK, who, after successfully escaping his spawn and making it to Yard, proceeded to keep up the French knife swinging and almost to great effect as he got a clean slice on GeT_RiGhT.
