The FaZe fairytale run continues.
At 2-3 at the RMR, FaZe looked down and out. They hunkered down and came out swinging, powered through the LCQ, and smashed their way through the Challengers Stage.
But after a crazy start to the Legends Stage, they were forced to fight back with three back-to-back BO3s - the exact thing that messed them up in the RMR.
They even exorcised their Bad News Eagles demons in the 1-2 game, after they taught 9INE a lesson in Counter-Strike.
Now, today, once again we almost made the mistake of counting them out.
15-9 down on map three with NAVI running rampant, FaZe once again found another gear. They are un-put-away-able. broky stood tall, karrigan found the gaps to flank and ropz, Twistzz and rain did what makes them legendary.
FaZe pushed NAVI to overtime, and NAVI were shook. It took two OTs to finally finish them off - NAVI are no slouches themselves - but once it hit OT, it felt inevitable.
karrigan is inevitable.
Stephanie Lindgren"I'm still a little shocked that we managed to pull that off!" a wide-eyed rain told BLAST.tv.
"We started a little slow on Overpass, we gave them a bit too much room to play... Mirage we just smacked them."
He does think that FaZe will need to tighten up a little bit when they get in front of a crowd, even if he was happy with today's comeback.
"Against a team like Heroic or Vitality, if you lose your pick, you lose the game."
He is, though, aware of just how frightening FaZe showing up can be for the rest of the tournament.
"Once we got rolling, people get afraid to play us."
You won't find any argument from us.
Finally, rain told us that FaZe "play every tournament to win", but also reminded us that he's a champion.
"I'm not one of those players who goes to playoffs to get the badge."
Watch your back, Heroic, Vitality and co. rain isn't here to mess around.
Michal KonkolRobbaN shared similar sentiments to rain: "It felt like a final in the end. Now we're in playoffs, I'm just happy we actually made it, because it's the most disappointing thing to lose such an insane match."
"My heart rate went up a little bit for sure!" said the coach, chuckling. "Whatever the score was, 14-9, 15-9, it's just a few rounds. You can never give up."
A telling insight to how FaZe view the game. Of course, they're right, is just a handful of rounds, but the nonchalence with which he utters it makes you realise that FaZe never feel under pressure.
They really don't care.
After all, it's just a few rounds. How many thousands have they already won?
