Following Valve's announcement of the arrival of the new shooter based on the Source 2 engine, Counter-Strike 2, many players have begun to wonder whether they can play the new title with their current setup.
As happened more than ten years ago with the launch of CS:GO, many players had to make many changes to their computers to play the new title at that time.
While it is true that many PCs could run the game, the experience was not ideal because they did not meet the optimal requirements for smooth game performance. However, as time passed, Valve optimized CS:GO more and more so that many more players could play it.
Now, with the arrival of CS2, many gamers have raised the same question, and below we will show you the minimum system requirements to run CS2 optimally.
Likewise, gamers should consider that the new Source 2 engine brought many graphical, lighting, and motion improvements.
As a result, you can expect that, with a computer that barely meets the minimum requirements for CS2, the game will run with really low FPS, or you will simply not have a pleasant gaming experience.
PC gaming requirements have undergone several major changes over the last few years. However, all developers share with the community two types of system requirements for the video games they are about to release.
The minimum system requirements will allow the game to run; however, this does not guarantee that users will have the highest fluidity and graphic quality of the game. On the other hand, the optimal system requirements are also shared, which, according to the developers, will allow the game to run at its maximum graphic capacity with the highest possible fluidity.
Now, in the case of CS2, we all know the importance of the game's fluidity because every second or even millisecond can be decisive when winning or losing a round or a game. That is why, to play Valve's shooter competitively, the ideal is to have a setup that meets the optimal or recommended requirements.
Following the Limited Test update of CS2 last August 31, Valve gave many more community members access to the game. As a result, since that moment, we started to see and test what the new title based on the Source 2 engine brings.
However, Valve has not yet made anything official regarding the recommended system requirements. Similarly, after many players had the chance to test the new game, it is estimated that these requirements are similar to those of CS:GO. Also, remember that CS2 will arrive as an update of the current game but not as a new title.
Below are the recommended system requirements to run CS2 at its maximum possible performance.
While it is true that many Gaming PCs today can meet these requirements, a large majority will not be able to do so. With the advance of technology and the other graphic updates of video games that developers perfect to make the games more "realistic," it is essential to have a good computer to play CS2 optimally.
Many older computers may not meet these requirements because they are too old, and while they can run CS2, the gaming experience will be poor quality.
First, we should note that CS2 can run in different configurations, just like CS:GO. Therefore, players can select the aspect ratio and resolution that best suits them to increase and improve their gaming experience.
Remember that in games like CS:GO and CS2, FPS is crucial to succeed in a competitive game. That is why it is important that all players ideally configure their game to have a better quality of life within CS2.
Previously, we mentioned the minimum and recommended requirements for CS2. However, these are just recommendations made by the developers to have a good experience in your game.
The most important things to consider in games like CS:GO and CS2, in terms of PC requirements, are the graphics card (GPU) and the processor. It is essential for a Gaming PC to have a medium or high-end graphics card and a processor, either Intel or AMD of the latest generations. There is no doubt that, with this, we will be able to have the best Gaming experience in the game.
According to what Valve has shared so far, which is not much to say, CS2 will be very similar in configuration and performance to CS:GO. However, with the various graphical improvements we've seen over the past few months in the game's closed beta, we're sure the new game's requirements may be a bit higher. However, a configuration that works perfectly in CS:GO and keeps FPS constant and high should work perfectly in CS2.
As we have done for the last ten years in CS:GO, in Counter-Strike 2, we can change the graphics settings within the game to significantly improve the performance of our PC.
However, changing the configuration of the graphics cards, whether they are NVIDIA or AMD, has always been one of the fundamental aspects of having a more fluid game and, above all, for them to work without any problems.
On the other hand, another of the configuration changes that can directly affect the game's performance on our PC are, as in CS:GO, the launch options. According to the different professional players who have had the privilege of testing the game, these are some of the launch options that significantly improve the performance of the PC when running CS2:
Likewise, we can change the advanced video settings within the game just as we did in CS:GO. However, in CS2, we will be able to do it in a much more dynamic way, as we can see in real-time what changes we are making. Below, we will show you a screenshot with the recommended settings at this time for CS2.
In addition, you will also notice that on the left side of the screen, you will have a representation of how the game will look like after you make each of the changes in the settings.
The reality is that, at the moment, we are still testing the CS2 beta, so we will likely get some bugs, game crashes, or things out of the ordinary. If this happens, don't be alarmed because that's what video game betas are for so that the players themselves can report bugs so that the developers can fix them in the official releases of the game.
For now, it is known that we are very close to the official release of CS2 since, in one of Valve's latest official publications, it is mentioned that CS2 is in its Beta phase (it is no longer a limited test) and that it will be released "soon".
