Although they may not have a conventional AWPer at BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023, that hasn't held Cloud9 back as they have so far impressed in their matches.
Following a win against NAVI in their opening game they pushed FaZe to their limits, and new IGL Boombl4 already looks like a huge improvement.
After their game versus FaZe, Banks caught up with Boombl4 to discuss the loss, what went wrong, and how they prepare for their rematch against NAVI today.
Boombl4, it was an incredibly close game, an improvement from the last time you faced off against FaZe but still not enough.
I'm going to just start with Anubis:
There was a moment where they brought out the Deagle round, and in the round, after you had the Five-SeveN round, it all looked like you were going to close it out and it would go your way.
What do you feel was the thing you started to struggle with? We noticed Twistzz pulled out the AWP as well, but what was it in your mind that you lost to?
I think we were a little bit nervous after leading by three rounds, but we knew they would use two AWPs, and I think we were really nervous and left our game.
So the nerves started to get to you guys and we've got to talk about Ancient because it is the second time now you've been really abused on the CT side.
This is something you can't fix instantly right away. Do you understand what the problem is?
I know something is going wrong because in practice it seems good, but, you know, two games in a row we've gotten snowballed and the T side can do everything to us.
So I think we will see what we can do in the next match, you know? We are taking them one by one.
That's what it is for you guys, right? It's your first big LAN back and there's a lot of pressure, these nerves will creep in. You have though at least survived, right?
You took FaZe really deep. Does that give you some more confidence in your ability as a team considering how far you could push a team like FaZe who are the best in the world?
Of course, we have a really good mood in the team right now and more matches is more information on what we do wrong so we can practice for playoffs as well.
We've got to the quarter-finals, so I think we can be said for one or two hours after this, and then we can go to the practice room and watch what we did wrong and what we need to do better in the next matches, you know?
