Following the conclusion of day two at the Americas RMR, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to our first two teams. Where there are dark clouds, there's always a silver lining, and that silver lining is the stage is now set for the first set of teams to progress to Paris today.
The undefeated
After the first two days of competition, the four undefeated teams in the 2-0 column are mostly the usual suspects and one surprise package.
Liquid faced off against Flamengo, dispatching the Brazilian side with ease. Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis was a man on fire, posting a 26-12 stat line in a comfortable 16-6 win.
It was anything but easy for FURIA in their fixture versus Evil Geniuses. The last-minute replacement team pushed the top Brazilian team to the limit, leading the affair 12-10 before the Brazilians rallied, winning it out 16-13 to set up a date with Liquid.
paiN has quickly become one of the dominant forces in the region, proving exactly why against Complexity. Felipe “skullz” Medeiros and Wesley "hardzao" Lopes impressed with 26 and 27 kills respectively in their 16-10 win.
The most surprising side to find themselves in the 2-0 column is Fluxo. After defeating yur on the opening day, it took all thirty rounds for them to defeat BESTIA on Mirage, but nonetheless João "felps" Vasconcellos and co. will face paiN for a shot at Paris.
The survivors
Any team who lost their opening game immediately had their backs against the wall. Imperial was one such team, facing off against LOS+oNe in a best-of-three. LOS+oNe were no match for their more experienced foes, only accumulating three rounds across two maps as Imperial moved on to the 1-1 games.
MIBR was one of the favorites heading into the RMR, and they displayed exactly why their eyes are on Paris against 00 Nation. Domination by MIBR on Anubis then a closer affair on Ancient sent Marcelo "coldzera" David and co. home, meaning the legendary player will miss the final CS:GO Major.
Two domestic matchups concluded the second round of matchups in the Americas. Nouns took down the NA mixed side yur to ensure their own survival while elsewhere Paqueta was victorious against Solid.
